Why Are There So Many Locations At The Same Address?

The short answer is "the data" with the caveat being, Doctivity is working on it, and with your help.

Each Location (address) in Doctivity can only have one Organization. In situations where a medical facility may have many different billing organizations there have to be multiple locations with very similar or sometimes identical Doctivity Locations. Ideally, these are still differentiated with a Suite address or other secondary address info, but not always.

In other cases, the data provided to Doctivity actually has many many versions of the same Location or address provided when they don't need to be. The goal in these cases is to move Providers and Contacts to the correct version of the Location, and ultimate Organization for on-going correctness.

Doctivity routinely runs a process to delete Locations from the system that have no Providers or Contacts and are not connected to an Organization. If you see Locations you believe to be duplicates, please let Doctivity know at support@doctivityhealth.com, or by using the contact beacon on this Knowledge Base.

We actually help expose these duplicate addresses for cleanup, with a "Similar Locations" table on the Location details page. Many times a Similar or same address is intended, as in cases mentioned above where many billing organizations by work from the same physical location. The Similar Locations table is a great way to find duplicates though, that should be merged into another location in Doctivity. A good clue, (though not always) is a Location without a name.
